Charles & Ray Eames rosewood lounge chair - model 670 - Herman Miller

£2,450.00

Description: Iconic rosewood and black leather lounge chair - model no. 670.

This is one of two chairs I am selling on behalf of the family of the original owner, a renowned Scottish modernist architect. These were much loved and used pieces. I have included a photo, taken in the late 1970s/early 1980s, of the chairs in their original setting.

Designer: Charles and Ray Eames

Manufacturer: Herman Miller, US

Date: Designed 1956 - this example dates from the early 1970s. This chair is the older of the two chairs listed.

Dimensions: Width 85cm; Depth 90cm; Height 80cm

Condition: Lovely, vintage condition. The colour of the rosewood has faded over the years but it still has a stunning grain. There are some drip marks to the rosewood on the rear panels (see photo). These marks could be easily removed and the colour rejuvenated by stripping and refinishing. I would normally do this, but because of the provenance of the chair I would prefer the next owner to decide if this should be done. The black leather has a lovely patina but does show a lot of wear to the seat from use over the years. There is cracking to the leather but no rips or tears - there's plenty of life left in it.

Another stunning example of this iconic midcentury chair.
